Jude Bellingham takes Real Madrid to the top of the league table

Jude Bellingham scored a brace for Real Madrid to win the first El Clasico of the LaLiga 2023-24 season against Barcelona. A first-half strike by Ilkay Gundogan was not enough for Xavi's men to take three points from this game.

This win takes Los Blancos to the top of the league table. Girona are second in the table and four points ahead of Barcelona.

It was a dream start made by Xavi's Barcelona after Ilkay Gundogan scored the opening goal in the sixth minute of the game. Gundogan netted his first goal in the El Clasico and that too in his first game. The home team dominated and Fermin Lopez hit the post in the 16th minute. Both teams were pressing high and players gave away a few fouls.

Jude Bellingham had a tough time in the midfield. He was marked by Gavi and the young Spanish midfielder was right on the tail of his competitor.

Barcelona had another chance to extend their lead in the second half. Inigo Martinez's header struck the post and the score remained 1-0.

Then the moment came for which all Real Madrid fans had been waiting for. Jude Bellingham scored his first goal in the El Clasico and ninth in the LaLiga 2023-24. Two El Clasico debutants were on the scoresheet.

Lamine Yamal was introduced by Xavi and the 16-year-old got his first chance to play in this big picture.

In the injury and stoppage time, Bellingham scored the winner after getting at the end of a Luka Modric pass on the edge of the six-yard box. The home team received a huge setback and their unbeaten record in the season ended. There remains no unbeaten team in the Spanish top flight.
