Top four managers who can replace Rudi Garcia at Napoli
Sacking problems continue for French manager Rudi Garcia
Rudi Garcia was sacked by Al Nassr after a disappointing season in which the team failed to win any trophies and finished second in the Saudi Pro League. There were also reports of tension between Garcia and star player Cristiano Ronaldo.
In June, Napoli announced the appointment of Garcia as their new head coach, replacing Luciano Spalletti. The appointment was met with mixed reactions from fans and pundits, with some questioning why Napoli would hire a coach who had been sacked by his previous club so recently.
Recently, Napoli's star man Osimhen was seen shouting at his manager Rudi Garcia. This is just months away from Ronaldo's incident that he has suffered to keep a star player happy. There are speculations that the French manager and the Italian club will terminate his contract.
Since the news went viral, a lot of top managers have been linked with a move to Napoli. Here's the list of potential replacements for Napoli:
4. Marcelo Gallardo:
River Plate's most successful manager, stepped down and ended his eight-year tenure in charge of the Argentinian giants. Gallardo is one of the most successful managers in South America, having won 14 trophies with River Plate, including two Copa Libertadores titles. He is known for his attacking style of play and his ability to develop young players. Gallardo is among a number of advisors who are in the process of leading Napoli.
3. Igor Tudor:
The other candidate is Igor Tudor. The fact that the coach, formerly of Verona and Udinese, prefers a three-man defense no longer seems to be a problem. The 45-year-old Croatian would be a perfect profile to revolutionize the environment, last year he returned Olympique Marseille to the Champions League. The Croatian manager already has experience of managing and playing in the Serie A. Ex-Marseille boss will look to embrace this challenge if given the opportunity.
2. Graham Potter:
Former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter is reportedly amongst the names on the radar of Napoli amid their search for a new head coach. After struggling to make big-spending Chelsea challenge the elite clubs in the Premier League, a move to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium would be a great opportunity for Graham Potter to revive his career. He is amongst the front runners to manage Napoli after Garcia's contract termination.
1. Antonio Conte:
Ex Tottenham Hotspur and Inter boss Antonio Conte would be keen on a move to Napoli this season, he is linked with a move to the club. He helped Inter Milan win the Serie A in 2021, he is the favourite to replace Rudi Garcia due to his understanding and knowledge of Italian football and culture. Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli president is very keen on appointing Conte if things don't end up well for the French manager. It remains to be seen how this situation evolves, but Conte remains to be a concrete target.
