Manchester City & Barcelona step up interest in Xavi Simons
Xavi Simons is currently on loan at RB Leipzig
Manchester City and Barcelona are showing interest in the Paris Saint-Germain starlet Xavi Simons after he had a strong start while on loan at RB Leipzig.
The international player from the Netherlands joined Leipzig for the duration of the 2023–24 season, and he has already made a name for himself in the team. He has so far had an incredible season, tallying three goals and four assists in six Bundesliga games.
According to a report in Fichajes, Barcelona and Manchester City have taken notice of Simons' play. The two teams have reportedly been keeping an eye on his development for some time and could move when his loan agreement expires next summer.
A different report from 90min claims that PSG has told the player that they see him as a long-term possibility and have no plans to let him go.
Before adding him to the team, the French champions wanted him to play regularly in a major European league and in the Champions League, thus a loan deal with Leipzig was agreed.
Simons is expected to return to the Parc des Princes next summer if his strong run of play continues, which will push Barcelona and City to shift their attention to other players.
Sources have told 90min that PSG are pleased with Simons' performance at Leipzig but is not surprised by it. They had always intended for him to experience both regular league play and Champions League action.
