Manuel Neuer not in Julian Nagelsmann’s plans for November international break

Ter Stegen has replaced Manuel Neuer at Germany as the starting goalkeeper

Bild reports that Manuel Neuer, who made his comeback from a fractured leg against Darmstadt on Saturday, will have to wait for a recall to the German national team.

As of right now, Julian Nagelsmann has decided not to activate Manuel Neuer for Germany's November friendly against Austria and Turkey.

While Neuer will have more time to practise in games and potentially get back to his previous level, there will only be one international break before the European Championship in the summer to determine Germany's top player.

Marc-André ter Stegen has served as Germany's top player for a considerable amount of games while Neuer has been out of the lineup. However, considering Neuer's World Cup results, ter Stegen might hold that position come June when the Euros begin in Munich.

It's also important to note that while Nagelsmann was at Bayern, he was flexible enough to let Yann Sommer and finally Alexander Nübel challenge Neuer for the top spot after they all returned. Thomas Tuchel, meanwhile, has been confident that Neuer would reclaim the top spot following his departure.

The Barcelona star has, nevertheless, recently been able to solidify his position as Germany's top player—at least for the time being.

In fact, Ter Stegen has been a regular starter for Germany, particularly under Julian Nagelsmann's direction since his appointment.

The fact that experienced custodian Manuel Neuer sustained a significant injury at the end of 2022 and missed nearly a year due to it greatly aided Ter Stegen.
