The Bayern Munich goalkeeper broke this leg while skiing

Manuel Neuer, a great player for Bayern Munich, is expected to make his return to action in Matchday 9 against SV Darmstadt 98.

"If everything goes well in training, then he will play tomorrow. He's looking forward to it and so are we," manager Thomas Tuchel said

Since breaking his leg in an accident while skiing in December of last year, the 37-year-old has remained inactive.

The seasoned goalie resumed practice in August, and last month's matchup against Preussen Munster was anticipated to feature him.

But after being left out of the Bavarians' DFB-Pokal team against the third-tier minnows, his return was postponed.

Florian Plettenberg reports that Neuer will instead make his comeback for the home encounter against Darmstadt the following week.

According to reports, the player, manager Thomas Tuchel, and goalkeeper coach Rechner made the choice together.

Later, he led Germany as captain for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, when they were eliminated early after finishing third in their group. Upon arriving in December, Neuer went skiing in the Bavarian Alps and fractured his leg.

For the remaining games of the 2022–23 season, Yann Sommer began in goal before departing to play for Inter Milan in the summer.

This season, Tuchel has started Sven Ulreich in goal, and the German has performed admirably. Three clean sheets have been earned by the 35-year-old starter in seven Bundesliga games.

It's unclear who Tuchel favours between both feet now that Neuer is expected to return.

As they try to keep the pressure on league favourites Bayer Leverkusen, the defending champions, who easily defeated Galatasaray 3-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday, should have little issue against promoted Darmstadt.

However, Darmstadt player Matej Maglica declared on Wednesday that if Manuel Neuer does make an appearance, his team plans to spoil the fun.
