Algeria is said to have convinced Michael Olise, a midfielder for Crystal Palace, to play for them abroad.

The teenager was born in England to a Nigerian father and a French-Algerian mother, making him eligible to represent four separate nations.

Although Olise has not yet been awarded a senior international cap, it was previously believed that he was leaning towards playing for Nigeria after being added to a roster of players in March who were expected to participate in two Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches.

However, the 19-year-old never signed with the Super Eagles, and BBC writer Oluwashina Okeleji claims that this was because his agency wanted him to make sure he was moving to the Premier League and joining Crystal Palace before anything else.

With an abdominal ailment, Olise missed both the summer and the beginning of the new season with Patrick Vieira's team. However, he ultimately made his debut for his new team in September, coming off the bench versus Spurs.

However, it appears that his decision to shift who he wants to represent has coincided with his return to fitness, as the teenager now appears more likely to represent Algeria.

Okeleji also says that Olise's next move, should Algeria not work out, could involve a call-up to Didier Deschamps' France team. Olise's only international experience to far was playing twice for the France Under-18s at the Toulon tournament three years ago.

Richard, Olise's younger brother, is a Chelsea club centre defender who plays youth international football for England.
