Mohammed Kudus joined West Ham United

The Ghanaian was being linked to a wide range of teams, including Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain. Todd Bohely and company rushed quickly to complete the sale and even reached an understanding on the player's personal conditions, but they only offered Ajax £17 million, which the Dutch powerhouses soon rejected.

The Blues had interest in Mohammed Kudus and spoke with Ajax about a prospective deal, according to The Athletic, but nothing substantial came of this.

Jennifer Mendelewitsch, the Ghanaian's agent, explained to RMC Sport why the deal fell through.

"We reached an agreement with Chelsea; we agreed contractually with Chelsea, but the deal did not happen. He spoke with the coach [Mauricio Pochettino], but in the end, it didn't happen. It was not done because Chelsea made a ridiculous offer to Ajax," she said.

"Chelsea did this to lots of players this summer with very low offers to clubs, knowing that they would not be accepted. The truth is that they were completely taken by the transfer of Caicedo, which mobilised all their energy," he added.

Despite being one of the busiest clubs during the previous transfer window and coming to a personal terms deal, Chelsea was unable to sign a single player. His agent has finally explained the cause.

Since the Todd Boehly-led partnership acquired the club, the Blues have been the greatest spenders in the transfer market, spending more than £1 billion on incoming players.

They also completely restructured their team in the summer, which resulted in the departure of a number of first-team talents, notably Mason Mount from the academy, Mateo Kovacic, and Kai Havertz, all of whom joined Premier League clubs.

The 22-year-old signed with West Ham for €44.5 million after turning down an offer from Brighton. Cole Palmer was instead acquired by Chelsea from Manchester City for £45 million.
