According to the Spanish news website Relevo, the Argentine attacker, who just transferred from Sevilla to Monza as a free agent, has been given a two-year doping suspension.

In November 2022, Gomez allegedly tested positive for doping. The ex-Atalanta player won't be able to play against Roma this coming weekend as the outcome.

The specific chemicals used have not been revealed, and more information about the doping case is still coming to light. We are also awaiting the official announcement.

Such incidents not only damage the reputations of the individuals concerned but also cast doubt on the efficacy of anti-doping regulations in the world of professional sports.

Fans were quite excited about Papu Gomez's recent move to Monza and thought it was a big boost to the team, but now the World Cup champion must navigate through this period by himself.

The Argentine claimed that he opted to take medication without first seeking advice since he wasn't feeling well at night.

At one point, Gomez competed for the Ukrainian Medalist, the Spanish Sevilla, and the Italian Atalanta. He relocated to Monza at the end of September as a free agent.

Gomez also competed at the World Championships in Qatar. The midfielder was awarded a world champion medal because the Argentina national team won the competition.
