USA announce squad for October international break

USA will face Oman and Germany in international friendlies
Gregg Berhalter has chosen a 23-man roster for the United States men's national team ahead of a few of the more important friendlies the team has ever contested. For a true benchmark of what this squad is capable of against elite competition, the United States are scheduled to face Germany on Saturday, Oct. 14, and Ghana on Tuesday, Oct. 17, during this month's international break.
They will see Germany for the first time under new manager Julian Nagelsmann, but they will be unable to do so with captain Tyler Adams absent owing to his continued hamstring injury for Bournemouth.
Adams played 12 minutes in the Cherries' EFL Cup victory over Stoke City on September 27, however, manager Andoni Iraola announced that Adams' hamstring ailment has returned.
Yunus Musah and Luca De La Torre were tasked with standing in as defensive midfielders for Berhalter since Adams was unable to be selected for the national team, but these games will be their largest test in that capacity.
Offensive midfielder Gio Reyna makes a major return to the team. He joins the team despite not having played for club or country since June 18 after recovering from a leg injury.
Reyna and Berhalter attempted to mend their friendship after a disagreement at the World Cup, and his reappearance to the national team proves what Berhalter has said in public: Reyna's comeback was always possible.
