Victor Osimhen releases statement after Napoli's viral TikTok video

Napoli social media executive resigns after posting TikTok clip
After the contentious TikTok video went viral, Victor Osimhen issued a forceful statement, only hours after Napoli's social media director announced his resignation.
After the Serie A champions uploaded films on TikTok that seemed to taunt Osimhen for squandering a penalty after their 0-0 draw against Bologna, it raised uproar. The somewhat ominous social media clip had Osimhen pleading for a spot-kick and encompassed a voice that was loud.
As Napoli emphasised that they did not mean to offend the Nigerian international, Osimhen is currently weighing legal action. As a result of the retaliation, Napoli have received a lot of criticism.
However, after netting in their convincing 4-0 win over Lecce on Saturday, Osimhen sent a statement on his Instagram story acknowledging that the "accusations against People of Naples are untrue."
"Coming to the City of Naples in 2020 was a wonderful decision for me," Osimhen said. "The People of Napoli have shown me so much love and kindness, and I will not allow anyone to come between us.
"The passion of the People of Naples fuels my fire to always play with my heart and soul, and the love for the badge is unwavering as I wear it with pride. The accusations against People of Naples are untrue.
"I have a lot of friends that are Napolitans and have become part of my family and everyday life. I appreciate Nigerians and everyone for leading their voices to support and reach out to me. I'm forever grateful. Let’s support unity, respect and understanding. FORZA NAPOLI SEMPRE."
Shortly after Napoli social media manager Alessio Fortino announced his resignation after more than two years in the position, Osimhen made his comment. "Today, after 805 days, my professional adventure with SSC Napoli ends," he wrote in a post on Instagram.
"For many this job would be comparable to a dream, for me it was the simple daily reality: a reality built on commitment and fuelled by the continuous desire to learn and get involved.
"I cannot help but express my profound gratitude to all the colleagues, collaborators, partners and fans met during this long journey for making this experience so special. I leave the company with a wealth of extraordinary memories and enthusiasm for the new adventures that await me. Thanks again for everything and see you soon!"
