Odisha FC boss Sergio Lobera seemed unhappy with the team’s performance even after getting a numerical advantage over Bengaluru FC.
After a thrashing defeat against the Kerala Blasters at Kochi, Odisha FC made a comeback by defeating Bengaluru FC 3-2 at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
The match started with Bengaluru FC’s two quick goals under 20 minutes of play. Sunil Chhetri scored the first in the eighth minute and Ryan Williams scored the second in the 18th minute of play. Odisha FC didn’t hold back longer to start attacking as Puitea brought one back for them in the 23rd minute. The equalizer for Odisha FC was scored by Isak Vanlalruatfela in the 45th minute of play.
In the second half, Bengaluru had to face a setback in the 52nd minute as Roshan Singh was shown a red card. They had to tackle the home team with 10-men for the rest of the match. Taking advantage of the situation, Amay Ranawade scored the winning goal for the Juggernauts in the 60th minute.
Sergio Lobera speaks after the match
The post match press conference was attended by Odisha FC’s head coach Sergio Lobera. He looked relieved after winning a crucial match at the home ground and said, “I am elated because we have acquired three pivotal points, which holds immense significance for us. As mentioned before, we are still recovering from a distressing match against Kerala. In that match, we suffered a defeat under challenging circumstances, conceding two goals in the early stages.”
“Nevertheless, I take immense pride in my players for displaying a remarkable reaction in the face of adversity. Such resilience is truly commendable,” he added.
He also mentioned that in the Bengaluru FC game, the circumstances were different, where they fought against a 10-men team which helped them to find a winning goal. Furthermore, they need to improve their prowess in some fields to tackle difficult oppositions. He said, “We must strive to enhance various aspects in the upcoming games. During the second half, we found ourselves confronted with a team consisting of only 10 players, and we experienced considerable difficulties in the closing minutes. Regrettably, we failed to capitalize on our numerical advantage.”
