Manchester City identify Reece James as Kyle Walker's successor

Reece James has been named Chelsea captain this season.
Reece James, a defender for Chelsea, has been touted by defending Premier League champions Manchester City as a possible right-back replacement for Kyle Walker.
The Independent claims that James is viewed as a possible replacement for Walker by City, who are keen on signing the England international. James' name even surfaced last summer.
James has "long been targeted" by City as the guy to follow Walker. Walker signed a deal in September that will keep him at the club till 2026, despite turning 33 in May.
Real Madrid are rumoured to have expressed interest in James as well. The Chelsea player is considered by Carlo Ancelotti as a possible replacement for Dani Carvajal, who is 31 right now. However, James has never shown a desire to quit Chelsea.
After passing through the club's academy, the 23-year-old was chosen as the new club captain in summer when Cesar Azpilicueta left.
James and Walker will face off on Sunday at the Stamford Bridge when Chelsea take on Manchester City in the Premier League.
Despite being one of the top right-backs in the world, James has faced difficulties in staying healthy in recent years.
Throughout his career, he has not played full 90 minutes, and has 79 appearances in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old had previously been linked with Real Madrid, but it's fair to say that he appears destined to remain at Chelsea for a few more years of his career, if not forever.
