UEFA set to partner with Ballon d'Or from next year

Ballon d'Or will now have two more awards from next year
The organisation behind the Ballon d'Or, in collaboration with UEFA, has announced a new relationship to co-host the most famous prize-giving presentation in football.
Except for the 2020 Covid-hit season, the historic gong has been regularly awarded year since 1956. Lionel Messi won his eighth cup this week.
A deal has been reached with UEFA for the organization's governing body to "contribute its sports knowledge, market the global business rights and arrange the yearly honours gala" by French publication Groupe Amaury, which also owns the newspaper L'Equipe and the magazine France Football, which gives the prize.
The captain, boss, and media spokesperson of each nation's international team choose the best three players of the year; UEFA will not be part of the process of selecting them.
A declaration said:
"Together, UEFA and Groupe Amaury aim to enhance the stature and global reach of the awards while fostering a sense of unity and collaboration within the football community."
The two additional honours for the top men's and women's coaches will be introduced as part of the acceptance, which will take effect with the 2024 ceremony the following year.
The Yashin Trophy for best custodian, the Gerd Muller Trophy for top goalscorer, and the Kopa Trophy for best under-21 player will all continue to be given out in addition to the Ballon d'Or Feminin for the best women's player. However, despite current critiques, there is no indication that these three awards will be extended to the women's game.
The move by UEFA to collaborate with the Ballon d'Or may also be interpreted as a jab at FIFA and the global organisation The Best Awards, which recognise the best players and coaches of the year. Messi is atop a 12-player shortlist that will be announced early in the upcoming year at their ceremony.
