The Odisha FC (Women’s) team is scheduled to engage in their second match of the Indian Women’s League (IWL) against the Gokulam Kerala (Women’s) FC. The match will take place at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on the 20th of December, 2023.
Both the teams have maintained an undefeated record in the league this season. Odisha FC has notably secured a resounding victory of 4-0 against Sports Odisha. On the other hand, Gokulam Kerala FC commenced their campaign with a draw against Sethu FC and later emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win over HOPS FC in their subsequent match.
Odisha FC Head Coach Crispin Chettri and player Indumathi Kathiresan attended the pre-match press conference and answered the questions ahead of the next clash at their home ground.
Convincing win in the last game
Odisha FC secured a convincing win in their last match against Sports Odisha. When asked about the needed start to the league, coach Crispin Chettri replied, “It is always advantageous to commence a season by securing three points. Therefore, our intention is to continue building upon our previous achievements and maintain our momentum.”
About the next match against Gokulam Kerala FC
Gokulam Kerala FC is expected to pose a significant challenge for the home team, but the hosts will strive to capitalize on every opportunity during the match.
Indumathi Kathiresan said, “I believe it will be an excellent game. We have thoroughly prepared and observed similar matchups where all players were highly motivated to compete against them. Therefore, there is not much to elaborate on. We have diligently assessed the situation and are determined to execute our strategy. Hence, we aspire to replicate our successful performance against Sports Odisha and secure three points.”

Although women’s football has encountered challenges in attracting a large number of spectators, the supporters of Odisha FC Women’s team maintain a high level of enthusiasm and attend the matches, particularly at their home stadium.
On a question regarding it, coach Crispin replied, “I am aware that Odisha has been a stronghold, particularly in women’s football. Therefore, I greatly appreciate the increased attendance of fans in the stadium and their unwavering support. It truly makes a significant impact on the team. When spectators come onto the field and provide their support, I believe it will greatly uplift and motivate the players.”
