The Blue Tigers lost their first match against the mighty Australians by a score line of 2-0. Despite the loss, the fight that the Indian team put up caught the attention of all football enthusiasts as well as professionals. The brilliant defensive display from India in the first half with the likes of Deepak Tangri, Sandesh Jhingan, and Nikhil Poojary was excellent.

Despite Australia’s dominance in passing and a series of attacks, India exhibited resilience, matching them toe-to-toe and displaying an unwavering character by preventing any goals until the lemon break.

4. Saudi Arabia struggle to beat Oman

Saudi Arabia mounted a comeback to clinch a 2-1 victory over Oman in front of a packed Khalifa International Stadium. It has been a litmus test for the Saudi Arabia manager Roberto Mancini, who had a roller coaster run in recent times.

The lead from Oman had been staggering till the magical brilliance of Al Ittihad’s attacking midfielder Ghareeb shunned the hopes of the underdogs. Saudi Arabia took the lead after a slightly controversial off-side header which was overturned by the VAR.
