AFC Asian Cup 2023: Vikram Partap Singh pledges to win Uzbekistan clash on his birthday

Indian team will face Uzbekistan on January 18th.
In a heartwarming video released by Indian football on social media, Vikram Partap Singh is seen cutting a cake surrounded by the members of the Indian football team on the occasion of his birthday. The 22-year-old celebrated his birthday on 16th January with his teammates and coaching staff and wished to win the next AFC Asian Cup 2023 match.
India will face Uzbekistan in their next Group B contest on 18 January 2024 in the prestigious continental tournament for Asian national teams. The Blue Tigers succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against Australia in the opening game of the tournament despite delivering a bold display that won praise from every corner.
Vikram Partap Singh’s resolve
Vikram Partap Singh, while celebrating his 22nd birthday with teammates Sunil Chhetri, Mehtab Singh and more, wishing, in his native Punjabi language, ‘to win the next match’ in a confident tone. The mood in the video seemed elated and the attacking winger was also seen sharing a bite of the cake with head coach Igor Stimac.
It is heartening to see the Indian football team in high spirits ahead of a crucial game with Uzbekistan. Failing to secure three points will make qualifying for the knockout stages anear impossible task for the Blue Tigers. Coming away with at least a point from the match will keep the hopes of qualifying into the Round of 16 alive. However, the mentality, as showcased by Vikram Partap Singh in the said video, is to go out there and win.
Causing an upset against Uzbekistan will not be easy, as the White Wolves are favourites to follow Australia into the knockout stages by securing the top two direct qualification spots from Group B of the AFC Asian Cup 2023.
