"I was spat into my face" Inter Kashi's Peter Hartley lashes out at Real Kashmir player

The incident occurred in the final minutes of the I-League game between Inter Kashi & Real Kashmir.

Inter Kashi center-back Peter Hartley took to his twitter handle to report an incident where a player of Real Kashmir FC spat on his face during an I-League match between the two teams at the Kalyani Stadium in West Bengal. 

Peter expressed his extensive experience as a professional player spanning 17 years and emphasized that he had never encountered such disgraceful behavior from any player. He also underscored his four-year tenure playing in India, where such conduct is never tolerated.

He wrote, “I’ve played professional football for 17 years. Today I was spat into my face by number 16 of @realkashmirfc . I’ve played in India for 4 years. This is not acceptable in our sport and certainly not acceptable in this country. I will be exploiting the options to report this player.”

He also tweeted about punishing the player for such an act where he mentioned, “I can’t believe we are in 2024 and this kind of misconduct is still happening. Very disappointed and feel the player should be punished for his actions.”

What happened in the match?

Inter Kashi FC competed against Real Kashmir FC in an I-League match, which concluded in a draw as both teams scored one goal each. Mario Barco secured a goal for Inter Kashi in the 76th minute, while Henry Kisekka netted the equalizer in the 90+6th minute of play.

The incident occurred in the final minutes of the match. Peter Hartley was issued a red card  during the 90+9th minute of play. Following the match, Hartley was observed expressing discontent about Shaher Shaheen of Real Kashmir FC reportedly spitting on his face. This led to a commotion, with players and staff from both teams engaging in a heated exchange on the field. Officials had to intervene to restore order. Subsequently, Peter took to his Twitter account to report the incident.
