Rating new faces who should be in contention for India call-up

This ISL season has electrified fans with its thrilling action. Some Indian players have emerged as the standout performers, seizing the spotlight with their exceptional skills and determination. Fans have been swept off their feet witnessing the stellar performances of these local talents, who have risen to the occasion.

Their impressive displays have not only entertained but also sparked hopes of securing spots in the prestigious Indian national football team. With each match, these players showcase their potential and hunger for success, leaving a lasting impression on both spectators and selectors alike.

Khel Now takes a look at some of the new faces who can don the Indian National Team’s jersey in the near future:

Indian Super League(ISL)

Mohammed Sanan – 8.5/10

Jamshedpur FC dominated Punjab FC in the gameweek 15, securing a convincing victory. Sanan’s standout performance, culminating in a goal, showcased his brilliance as a forward. His stellar display solidifies his status as a player to watch, promising excitement and impact in future matches.

Valpuia – 7.5/10

Valpuia didn’t start the game against East Bengal, but he was instrumental in Mumbai City FC’s solid performance against Bengaluru FC. Not only did he excel defensively, but he also contributed offensively, playing a key role in the team’s build-up to the first goal. 

Ayush Dev Chhetri – 7/10

Despite managing the midfield effectively against Mohun Bagan, Ayush couldn’t capitalise on his opportunities to secure a victory for his side. Despite his efforts, the team fell short in converting chances into goals, ultimately failing to clinch the win.

Mohammed Aimen – 7/10

Despite a great performance against Chennaiyin on gameweek 15, Aimen couldn’t lead his team to victory. He orchestrated attacks for Kerala Blasters, but his colleagues couldn’t capitalise on his efforts. Additionally, Aimen needs some time to settle in and fully adapt to his team.

Jay Gupta – 6.5/10

Despite Jay Gupta’s thundering strike and magnificent performance in gameweek 14, FC Goa couldn’t capitalise much against Mohun Bagan in gameweek 15, ultimately succumbing to the Mariners by a narrow 1-0 margin. Gupta has been a standout performer since the start of this season, if you’re not aware!

Parthib Gogoi – 6.5/10

Gogoi showcased an impressive start to the season, but his performance seems to have tapered off with the league’s progession. Against Mohun Bagan, despite being brought on in the 75th minute, he had minimal impact on the game. 

Arshdeep Singh – 6.5/10

Arshdeep conceded a goal against Mohun Bagan, but he redeemed himself with some great saves later in the match. 

Sachin Suresh – 4.5/10

His performances have indeed experienced a noticeable dip in the second half of the ISL 2023-24 season. He appeared perplexed against Punjab FC and conceded a total of three goals. 

I-League

Gyamar Nikum – 7/10

Inter Kashi’s recent victory over Namdhari showcased a cohesive team effort. Nikum created numerous scoring opportunities and delivered an outstanding performance in that fixture.

David Lalhlansanga – 6.5/10

Mohammedan SC are table toppers in the I-League, enjoying a successful run. Lalhlansanga showcased his skills with line-breaking passes in a 2-0 win over TRAU, contributing to their success.

Saurabh Bhanwala – 4/10

Namdhari suffered a 4-0 defeat against Inter Kashi in their recent match, now standing 11th in the league. Despite Bhanwala leading their backline, the team’s struggles persists.
