Mohun Bagan, Odisha FC players dominate ISL 2023-24 Team of GW 17

The past ISL gameweek saw impressive individual performances from both domestic and foreign players.
As the Indian Super League 2023-24 season approaches its business end, the players and the clubs are pushing harder with every passing game week to achieve their seasonal objectives. To that end, the individuals are delivering sensational performances to the delight of Indian football fans who are relishing the intense competition on the pitch.
In the game week 17 of the Indian Super League, plenty of high-profile clashes took place. Teams like Mohun Bagan SG and Odisha FC notched up crucial wins to further intensify the race for the league title. Several standout performers were observed from the aforementioned fixtures who deserve recognition and appreciation for their significant contributions.
Therefore, looking back at the last round of matches, here is a look at some of the outstanding players who made the Khel Now Team of the Week for game week 17:
Formation – 3-5-2
Goalkeeper – Vishal Kaith (Mohun Bagan SG)
Vishal Kaith was superb in goal for Mohun Bagan SG once again. The custodian made two important saves including one from inside the box to help the Mariners keep a clean sheet and record a comfortable 3-0 win over Jamshedpur FC.
Right Centre-back – Amey Ranawade (Odisha FC)
Amey Ranawade was diligent in his defensive duties and helped Odisha FC to a 2-1 victory over East Bengal FC. The defender has been a consistent performer and once again covered huge distance on the right win for the Kalinga Warriors and kept the opposition attackers at bay.
Centre-back – Anwar Ali (Mohun Bagan SG)
Anwar Ali looked calm and composed during possession, advancing the ball from the back with ease in Mohun Bagan’s 3-0 win over Jamshedpur FC. The centre-back is regaining his prime form with every passing game and impressed against the Men of Steel with seven clearances and 15 long ball attempts.
Left Centre-back – Subhasish Bose (Mohun Bagan SG)
Subhasish Bose was rock-solid in defence and deserved to come away with a clean sheet following a 3-0 win over Jamshedpur FC. The skipper made five clearances and blocked two shots to keep the opposition attackers silent.
Right Winger – Manvir Singh (Mohun Bagan SG)
Manvir Singh was on absolute fire against Jamshedpur FC and had a role to play in each of the three goals for his side. He provided two exquisite assists for the first two goals. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for a sensational performance.
Central Midfielder – PV Vishnu (East Bengal FC)
Vishnu’s rise as one of East Bengal’s crucial players has been a joy to watch. The winger took Odisha FC’s defenders on a joyride to score within the first minute with a brilliant solo run. He was unlucky to end up on the losing side after the final whistle.
Defensive Midfielder – Ahmed Jahouh (Odisha FC)
Ahmed Jahouh played the role of the orchestrator from the midfield exceptionally, during Odisha FC’s 2-1 win over East Bengal FC. While he did not make a goal contribution, the midfielder made a huge impact with 114 touches, 69 accurate passes, and 20 successful long balls.
Central Midfielder – Mohammad Yasir (FC Goa)
Mohammad Yasir’s life at FC Goa has started on a lovely note. The former Hyderabad FC winger scored in his second successive game for The Gaurs in their 1-1 draw against Mumbai City FC in a high-octane match that had plenty of talking points surrounding it.
Left Winger – Vikram Partap Singh (Mumbai City FC)
Vikram Partap Singh made a key contribution for Mumbai City FC with a goal in the 1-1 stalemate against FC Goa. It was the fourth goal of the season for the attacking winger, his third in the last three games.
Striker – Madih Talal (Punjab FC)
Madih Talal is quickly becoming the priority in several ISL clubs’ transfer lists. In the past week, the attacker helped Punjab FC to a 2-0 win over Hyderabad FC with a sublime goal from long range. The Frenchman also provided the assist for the other goal scored by Luka Majcen.
Striker – Diego Mauricio (Odisha FC)
Diego Mauricio turned up for Odisha FC when they needed him the most. The striker won and scored a crucial penalty under immense pressure to help Odisha equalize and eventually secure three points following a 2-1 win over East Bengal FC.
