Punjab FC climbs to the 9th spot in the ISL table after this narrow-margin victory.

Punjab FC registered their 5th win of the current Indian Super League (ISL) campaign with a win away from home against NorthEast United FC. The Shers leapfrogged into 9th place in the points table with this win and are a point behind 6th-placed Bengaluru FC for a place in the ISL playoffs.

Wilmar Jordan Gil came clutch once again with a perfectly timed penalty against Gurmeet Singh who was making the debut for the Highlanders. Both teams started the game with a safety-first approach and the match remained goalless until half time.

The decisive moment of the game came around the hour mark when NorthEast United defender Tondonba Singh conceded a penalty for handball. Referee Rahul Gupta was spot on, and the big Colombian converted the penalty.
