Indian Football Calendar 2024: Major tournaments to look forward to in March 2024

There will be a lot of action in Indian football in March.

After a brief schedule in February, the focus has now shifted to March. With several important fixtures scheduled for the month, there is great anticipation among enthusiasts to follow the upcoming events closely.

While the Indian men’s team eagerly anticipates the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Afghanistan, scheduled matches are also lined up for the Indian Super League, Indian Women’s League and the I-League in March 2024.

Here is a look at the full calendar for Indian Football in March 2024:

World Cup Qualifier – Second Round

The Indian team has participated in two matches during the second round of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. They emerged victorious in the first match against Kuwait but faced defeat in the second match against Qatar. In March, they are scheduled to compete against Afghanistan in a home and away fixture, which is likely to determine India’s qualification for the next round of qualifiers.

• March 22: India vs Afghanistan
• March 26: India vs Afghanistan

SAFF U-16 Women’s Championship

The SAFF U-16 Women’s Championship is under progress. India has three matches scheduled. If they remain in the top two of the table, they will qualify for the finals.

• March 1, 2024: India vs Bhutan
• March 5, 2024: India vs Bangladesh
• March 7: India vs Nepal
• March 10: Final (If India qualifies)

AFC Cup

Odisha FC is the only Indian team to have qualified to the next round of 2023-24 AFC Cup. They will face Central Coast Mariners in the Inter-Zonal Semi-Final fixture. 

• March 7, 2024: Central Coast Mariners vs Odisha FC (Leg 1)
• March 14, 2024: Odisha FC vs Central Coast Mariners (Leg 2)

Indian Super League 2023-24

Indian Super League will have 17 matches in the month of March. There will be a short break from 15th to 29th of March. It will recommence from 30th of March, 2024. 

• March 1, 2024 – March 31, 2024 (League stage matches)

Indian Women’s League

After a brief hiatus, the Indian Women’s League has resumed on March 1, 2024, with a total of 12 matches scheduled for this month.

• March 1, 2024 – March 24, 2024 (League stage matches)

I-League 

The 2023-24 I-League season will have a total of 32 matches in the month of March. 

• Match 2, 2024 – March 27, 2024 (League stage matches)

Santosh Trophy 

The Santosh Trophy will conclude with the final, alongside the remaining group stage matches, scheduled to take place in the month of March.

• March 1, 2024 – March 9, 2024

I-League 2

After a brief break, the I-League 2 will commence and have a total of nine scheduled matches in March. 

• March 23, 2024 – March 30, 2023

AIFF Sub-Junior League

The AIFF Sub-Junior League will also have its league stage matches in the month of March. 

• March 2, 2024 – March 31, 2024
