The Highlanders must win both their remaining games to have any hopes of progressing to the playoffs…
NorthEastUnited Head coach Nelo Vingada met the press prior to his last home game against Delhi Dynamos FC tomorrow at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati.
NorthEast are eyeing a playoffs spot after a draw against Chennaiyin last week. A win against the Lions can make the way forVingada’s men to reach the semi-finals scheduled from 10th of next month. “After the Goa game, every match is like a Final for us. I was upset with the result against Kolkata and the Pune game was not our best. Against Chennai, we played an interesting game but a win tomorrow is must for us to stay in the race,” Vingada commented.
“Ofcourse the result of today’s match between Kolkata and Kerala is very important for us but I think eighteen points may be good to book a spot in the playoffs,’’ according to Vingada.
His team got a blow, as keeper Subrata Pal is ruled out for tomorrow’s match following injury during the last match against Chennai and Romaric and Nicolas Velez are on three bookings and one more yellow card will see them miss the last game against Kerala Blasters. “Subrata will not be in the starting eleven due to injury, Romaric and Velez are also with three yellow cards each. So, we have to be very careful in choosing our team and making gameplans for tomorrow’s match,” Vingada added.
“Finally, I hope the result will be in our favour and we can meet once again with you before the semi finals,” Vingada concluded.
