AFC Cup 2022 Qualifiers: ATK Mohun Bagan Vs Blue Star Live Streaming

We are just some minutes away before ATK Mohun Bagan Vs Blue Star SC match in the second round of the AFC Cup 2022 Preliminary stage. The host Sri Lanka club beat Machhindra United in the previous round to setup a meeting with ATKMB with the winner then playing Bangladesh club Abahani Dhaka in the final round of qualifiers for a place in the group stage.

After a disappointing show in the recently concluded Indian Super League 2021-22 season, where they were knocked out from the playoffs, Juan Ferrando's ATKMB will be desperate to make the AFC Cup proper. They qualified for the AFC Cup qualifiers after finishing second in ISL 2020-21 season. The game will also mark the return of fans to the iconic Salt Lake Stadium for the first time in nearly two years for a game involving ATK Mohun Bagan.

Ahead of the match, ATKMB coach Ferrando shared his excitement about the fans' return. “Of course, I’m excited because I’m thinking like a player. It’s important to play in front of supporters after two years of a difficult pandemic. Now, it’s good as the supporters can support the team. They can be close to the players and can show their support directly. I’m thinking about myself and the coaching staff and we’re happy as our job is to help the players. It’s important when the supporters are close to us,” he said.

Star player Joni Kauko also shared his thoughts on the match and recalled his debut or the club which was in the same competition about a year ago.

“I feel really good here. When I arrived here, everyone took me really well. It’s hard to adapt, as it’s very different from the kind of football I’m used to. I’m trying to do my best, but there’s still a lot to improve. I’m trying to do my best for that and I’m excited for tomorrow’s game, to play in front of the large crowd for the first time.”
