China PR are undefeated against Chinese Taipei in the AFC competition

The group stage of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 has concluded, with eight teams advancing to the knockout stage as the race for continental glory and qualification to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 intensifies.

Australia became the first side to book their place in the semifinals after edging past DPR Korea 2-1 in a thrilling quarterfinal.

Attention now turns to the second last-eight clash, where regional rivals China PR and Chinese Taipei women will face off on Saturday, with a semifinal spot and a ticket to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 on the line.

China PR overcame Group B of the tournament with a perfect record, beating DPR Korea, Uzbekistan and Bangladesh.

The Dragons scored seven goals and conceded just one, in what has been a comfortable run in this tournament.

China PR are ranked 17th in the FIFA Women’s rankings. Overall, the Chinese women have won the AFC Women’s Asian Cup a record nine times and will be one of the favorites alongside Japan this year as well.

Chinese Taipei started their AFC Women’s Asian Cup campaign with a 2-0 loss to Japan. However, they turned their fortunes around in their next two games, picking up wins against Vietnam and the Indian Women’s Football team.

They finished second in Group C with six points, scoring four goals and conceding three so far in the tournament. They will look to book a spot in the semifinal of the tournament as they face a superior ranked side in the quarterfinal.
