AIFF announces season and transfer window dates for next season

The proposed amendments were approved by FIFA.
The coronavirus pandemic has brought life to a standstill in the past couple of the months or more. With the nation entering a lockdown situation, football fans were waiting for the return of their favourite sport. Football has returned in Europe and is set to return in other parts of the world. Amidst the crisis, the AIFF - All India Football Federation has come out with a plan revealing the window for player registration (transfer window) for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
The AIFF assured that FIFA) have given their nod to the amendments and transfer window dates for the upcoming Indian football campaign.
The whole window of registering players by various teams all across the country, be it men or women is divided into two different phases with a third phase allowed for registering amateur players.
The commencement of the next season as per the AIFF has been set for August 1, 2020, with the season-ending on May 31, 2021. The first phase of player registration will start on August 1, 2020 and run till October 20th, 2020. The second phase of registration, which is also known as the winter transfer window starts on January 1, 2021 and runs till the end of January.
Adding to this, the registration period for the amateur players will be open for the entirety of the season.
The upcoming Indian Super League season is set to begin in November, as the AIFF feels till that time things will be close to normal in the country.
The last match in Indian football that took place was the closed-door ISL final between Chennaiyin FC and ATK, with the Kolkata outfit clinching their third title. While the I-League got cancelled with some fixtures, including the second leg of the Kolkata Derby left to play.
Mohun Bagan were crowned champions by virtue of points and as a result of an abrupt end, none of the clubs were relegated. The 2nd Division League was also brought to a close prematurely and it remains to be seen what the AIFF decides on its future.
