Selecao das Quinas have never won the flagship trophy before!

Led by Roberto Martinez, the Portugal national football team went head-to-head against the Spain national football team in their round of 16 contest. The Dallas Stadium witnessed this high-stakes 2026 FIFA World Cup encounter.

The game started with both teams equally battling for the ball. They challenged each other time and time again during the fixture. Cristiano Ronaldo and company surely came close to scoring two or three times in the first half, but failed to do so. They had control of the ball and they were not able to use it to their advantage.

The Spain national football team also had a tough contest on their hands. Their performance in the final third was not the best, despite multiple chances that looked in their favour. They defended well and did not let the Portuguese attack get past. La Roja have secured another clean sheet with a 1-0 win against Selecao das Quinas in the FIFA World Cup 2026 round of 16.

The Portugal national football team and Cristiano Ronaldo are eliminated from the FIFA World Cup 2026. Their defeat came against Spain (0-1) in the round of 16 of the mega competition.

All the knockout stage fixtures in the mega competition are one-legged. This means that the losing team will go back home.

For CR7, the journey to win the World Cup crown ends here. Ahead of the Portugal vs Spain contest, he mentioned that this is his final World Cup. He became the only player to score a goal in six different editions of the flagship tournament.

This also marks the final game for Roberto Martinez as the head coach of the Portugal national football team. It was not the best effort by the side and they bowed out from the world stage.

On the other hand, the Spaniards secured a berth in the last 8. They have a chance to face either USA or Belgium in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals.
