FIFA U-17 World Cup arrives at first National Supporter Bank of Baroda's Delhi branch

The FIFA U-17 World Cup trophy was revealed at an event in the heart of the national capital on Tuesday. Supported by the Bank Of Baroda, the trophy was up for glance for official visitors and invitees. Speaking exlusively to Khel Now, Rakesh Bhatia, GM (Marketing, Corp. Comm. WMS) and R.K. Gupta, GM and Zonal New Delhi of BoB shared their views and gave an insight into their future plans.

"When we found out that a FIFA tournament will be hosted by our country, we thought if would be a huge honour for us to become one of the sponsors and supportors of this prestigious event. We felt passionate and enthusiastic about it. There were no second thoughts for our support to it. Everybody knows about FIFA and certainly understands their professional aura. Joining hands with this organisation has been a great opportunity for the bank. We are extremely excited for this to happen," said Bhatia, who is a football fan himself.

Gupta, who is the Bank's representative for New Delhi, also shared his views. "Everybody is excited that India's group matches are to be played in the National Capital Region. Hosting a FIFA event holds great pleasure for us and it's a cherry on the top that Delhi will be hosting the initial matches. The Bank of Baroda North Zone workforce of more than 4,300 employees is very excited and a fair amount of them have turned out for this event. We are honoured to have the trophy in one of our most important offices, exclusively for our employees."

Talking about the potential impact the tournament may have, Bhatia said, "We all know that cricket is regarded as a religion in this country and obviously is on top. Football does not enjoy the same stature. The craze and awareness of the sport is far depleted compared to cricket. I believe that with the hosting of this mega event, we might see a shift in the preferences. The next quarter is very essential and exciting for India. We already have enthusiasm in eastern and southern parts of India. we believe it will impact the other parts as well. The Government of India has taken this initiative and we want to assist them to popularize it with all our soul and spirit."

Gupta urged the fans in Delhi to show their support to the India U-17 team and cheer them to glory. He was enthusiastic and assured us of the backing up of Delhi crowd. He was happy to see that the Trophy Tour has started from the capital as will the Indian team's campaign. At the event, there were interactive football-related activities including a Foosball table, Target shot goalpost, dribbling challenge area and an exclusive Play Station 4 for FiFA 17. "We have started including football in our organizational sports meets and have already invited our employees and their families for today's event. We have put this as our priority."

"Bank of Baroda is not a beginner in initiatives like these. We have been involved in initiatives like these regardless of the scale. There were no challenges in partnerling with FIFA. Rather we the family of Bank of Baroda are very excited for the experience and all the branches are thrilled that we have become the first partners. Bhatia further added and spoke highly of the governing body, "FIFA and its representatives have been very supportive, in all the activities we have done, there has been an active participation by them."

He bid adieu by stating that the Bank ais always up to support the growth of sports in India. They are always on the forefront of activities like these.

All in all, the event concluded by a sendoff to the silverware into the safe hands, followed by the parting of the designated officials and a strong message for all of the Indian masses. If we as the audiences want to host the Under 19 World Cup as well, then we ought to support out nation more than we already are.
