Bengaluru FC target win in the Deccan Derby against Chennai
The reigning champions are looking to make it two wins in two at home...
Reigning I-League champions Bengaluru FC have set their sights on making it 6 points from two games when they take on Chennai City FC at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday.
The Steelmen got off to the perfect start to the season when they romped to a 3-0 win over Shillong Lajong FC on the opening matchday. Goals from Udanta and Sena Ralte helped Albert Roca's cause as he looks to win his first I-League title.
Chennai City on the other hand managed a goalless draw against fellow I-League newcomers Minerva Punjab at Chennai.
Team News
Roca had heaped praise on his team in the post-match press conference after the Lajong game. The Spaniard will no doubt want to retain the same team that despatched Thangboi Singto's team so comprehensively. However, new signings Roby Norales and Sandesh Jhingan may be given a few minutes on the pitch.
Chennai City FC on the other hand are still finding their feet in the league as coach Robin Raja searches for his first choice XI. Brazilian Marcos Thank may start this game as the southerners needed a focal point in attack in the previous game. The Brazilian may be a good choice to challenge a strong Bengaluru defence.
Head To Head
This is the first competitive meeting between the two clubs.
Man To Watch
Udanta Singh-Bengaluru FC: The 22-year old Tata Football Academy graduate gave a good account of himself in the I-League opener when he showcased both his tenacity and his creative side as he bagged two goals. Roca rued the fact that Udanta was unavailable for the club's dream AFC Cup last season. He will no doubt be a key cog in Roca's plans this season as the club aim to replicate the success of last year.
Chennai City FC- Dharmaraj Ravanan: Ravanan is an experienced campaigner in the I-League circuit having plied his trade for Churchill Brothers prior to joining his hometown club. The 29-year old will need to draw on all his experience to help his team come through their sternest test so far as they face a forward line of Sunil Chhetri, Eugeneson Lyngdoh and Udanta Singh.
Probable Team Line Ups
