Reece James has been named as Chelsea's captain

Chelsea's captain Reece James is on the verge of making a comeback to first-team football. The full-back has provided an injury update on his social media handle.

James posted a story on his social media where he posted "p.s I'll be back real soon."

Reece James suffered an injury against Liverpool in the first match of the Premier League 2023-24 season. The full-back has been injury-prone over the past seasons and suffered yet another blow.

Chelsea had signed Malo Gusto as a backup option for the player. He is also young and hasn't played a lot of first-team football. The young Frenchman has replaced the club captain and performed his duties decently,

However, the Blues suffered a 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa in their recent game. Gusto received a red card for a poor challenge and this leaves the manager with no proper right-back. Chelsea sits 14th in the league table with just one win in the first six games.

Mauricio Pochettino's team spent a lot of money in the transfer window. However, they are unlucky as most of these signings are out injured and the manager has to cope up with the remaining players.

Reece James' injuries restricted his game time to only 22 matches in the entire season. He played just 16 Premier League games and eight UEFA Champions League matches. The full-back likes to attack and is just 23 years old. He has won the Champions League and Europa League with the Blues.

Chelsea fans will be eager to see their captain back on the field. They are struggling to build momentum and get into the top four. The Blues have spent a lot of money in the recent transfer windows and demand success. James' return to first-team action will be a huge boost for the London club.
