Five goals were scored inside 31 minutes in the second half.

Chennaiyin FC completed a 4-1 rout over pre-match favourites, FC Goa, as a chain of goals in the second half of the first leg of the first semi-final saw the home team take a key advantage in the tie. Lucian Goian opened the scoring for Owen Coyle's team, whereas Anirudh Thapa, Eli Sabia and Lallianzuala Chhangte later registered their names on the scoresheet. Saviour Gama managed to pull a goal back for the Gaurs, but it is going to be a long way back at the Fatorda Stadium for the league leaders in the second leg of this clash. Here, we rate the performances of the Indian players in Chennaiyin FC Vs FC Goa: [KH_ADWORDS type="4" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS]

Chennaiyin FC

Vishal Kaith- 5.5 Vishal Kaith was hardly tested by the Gaurs’ forwards throughout the game. But, he could have certainly presented a better effort to save Saviour Gama’s effort that eventually resulted in a goal. [embed]https://youtu.be/noVE1h0qjQ4[/embed]

L Renthlei- 6.0 Renthlei was alert to make the long passes and clear out the ball from his own half whenever he was stuck in a tricky scenario during the game. Jerry Lalrinzuala- 7.5 Jerry had an incredible evening on the field as he passed effortlessly for Anirudh Thapa’s goal and intercepted and cleared the ball four times each. Additionally, he tackled and crossed the ball on two occasions to play an integral role in his team’s victory. Edwin S Vanspaul- 6.5 Edwin moved the ball around conveniently, committed to some regulatory challenges and overall did a reasonable job for his side. [KH_ADWORDS type="1" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] Anirudh Thapa- 8.0 Thapa was extremely industrious in midfield, chasing his counterparts to win the ball back and also producing that creative spark with the ball in the final third. His sublime finish for the goal and then the accurate assist for Lallianzuala Chhangte’s goal helped pile up the pressure on Clifford Miranda’s men. Lalianzuala Chhangte- 7.0 Lallianzuala Chhangte was actively engrossed in efficiently making contributions. But, it was his key finish for the goal that turned out to be most important from his team’s perspective. Otherwise, he made a tackle, clearance and cross each during his stay on the pitch.

FC Goa

Mohammed Nawaz- 5.0 Nawaz was resolute in the first half and made some timely saves. But, he was taken apart by Chennaiyin’s successive attacking moves in the later stages of the game. He delivered absolutely contrasting performances in both halves. Seriton Fernandes- 5.5 Seriton Fernandes was defensively solid in the initial part, making some solid tackles and clearances. However, he was conveniently bypassed by Thapa in the final quarter of the game and that led to a series of goals for the home side. Mandar Rao Dessai- 5.5 Mandar had a decent match where he made a couple of tackles, clearances and crosses to show for his overall contribution. However, the captain would have hoped to reduce Coyle’s team’s growing dominance towards the fag end of the encounter. [KH_ADWORDS type="3" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] Lenny Rodrigues- 5.0 Lenny could not break the offensive moves that led to goals, but he still maintained a neat passing accuracy of 95%. Seminlen Doungel- 4.5 Doungel was tenacious defensively, but could not provide that incisive edge in the other half of the pitch. He didn’t make any decisive passes or take key shots that could have troubled the CFC backline. [KH_ADWORDS type="2" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] Manvir Singh - 4.5 Manvir tried to hold up play and bring his teammates into the action multiple times. But, he was denied the chances to turn his back and hence he was stuck in a position through which his impact reduced drastically. Substitutes Saviour Gama- 6.0 Saviour Gama did the job that he was brought on to the field for. He made a couple of tackles, but more importantly, the goal he scored could turn out to be vital in terms of the aggregate after the second leg. Princeton Rebello- N/A Wasn't on long enough to make an impact.
