Dempo too good for FC Bardez Goa in GPL

Dempo Sports Club trounced FC Bardez Goa 3-0 in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium earlier today.
Dempo came into the match with a draw against Corps of Signals, while FC Bardez came into the match with a loss against Calangute Association.
Dempo coach Mauricio Afonso made a few changes to his side as Germanpreet Singh replaced the injured Adil Khan, while captain Shallum Pires was back in the starting XI. FC Bardez gaffer Armando Colaco had to make four changes to his squad as Peter Carvalho and Joel Sunday were out due to suspension, while goalkeeper Mirshad K and Cavin Soares were out due to injury. Saviour Gama, Michael Silva, and Myron Mendes saw their names on the starting XI.
Both the teams started the game in good spirits but it was Dempo who drew first blood early in the 6th minute as Beevan D’Mello go the ball on the right flank, beat the defender and shot. Goalkeeper Bilal Khan saved, but then spilled. Anthony D’Souza got to the loose ball and struck it into the net. FC Bardez could have made it 1-1 in the 9th minute as Richard Costa found Myron Mendes inside the Dempo box. Myron controlled it and shot a volley right at the keeper who had to punch it away to safety. In the 19th minute Germanpreet got the ball just outside the box and tried a shot which narrowly missed the goal. Dempo had another chance in the 23rd minute of the match as Felix Odili Chidi was in action on the left flank. He dribbled past the FC Bardez defence, got the ball inside the box and passed it to Anthony who wasted no time in unleashing a powerful shot, but keeper Bilal Khan saved it. The Golden Eagles made it 2-0 in the 27th minute of the match as Felix Odili Chidi dribbled past two defenders on the right flank and chipped the ball to Kapil Hoble who just had to tap the ball in the net. Felix Odili Chidi could have increased the lead in the 34h minute has his header was stopped by the keeper. Dempo went into the breather with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
The Panthers could have made it 2-1 in the 68th minute as Girish Naik crossed in the ball, Koko Sakibo rose up and headed it but was unlucky as the ball hit the crossbar. Dempo made it 3-0 in the 87th minute. Anthony D’Souza found substitute Milagres Gonsalves who outran Rowilson Rodrigues, and passed the ball to an unmarked Ignore Singh and he struck the ball into the net.
FC Bardez coach Armando Colaco said, "We didn't have a good game. I'm disappointed, but the boys played well in the second half.
