The Islanders seem to be on a rampage in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Mumbai City FC have roped in 18-year-old forward Vikram Partap Singh from Indian Arrows, Khel Now understands. Vikram is a promising prospect in the Indian football circuit and also someone who has been vastly talked about in the last few months. He will join the Islanders in a ₹50 lacs deal, a source has confirmed.

His performances for the Arrows over the course of the last two seasons has invariably caught the attention of multiple suitors but the Islanders have moved swiftly and decisively to secure his services.   In the 2019-20 I-League season, Vikram represented his side in 14 matches and scored four goals. He had previously made his debut for the AIFF developmental side in the 2018-19 campaign and had notched a solitary goal in 13 matches.

The lad is physically well-built and could torment defenders with his incisive and quick runs from the right-flank. Moreover, he can play across the front line and has a knack of capitalising on goal-scoring opportunities with his smart movements and decision-making.

Mumbai have been incredibly active in the transfer market ever since the conclusion of the previous Indian Super League campaign. Khel Now had exclusively revealed about former FC Goa boss Sergio Lobera being set to take over the head coach duties of the franchise.

According to our other reports, players like Ahmed Jahouh, Mandar Rao Dessai and Mourtada Fall would be leaving the Gaurs to join Mumbai too. Last week, we also broke the news of Jorge Ortiz Mendoza, a forward previously associated with Atletico Madrid B, being in talks to represent the City Football Group-owned franchise.

Meanwhile, Vikram Partap Singh is someone who has become a beacon of aspiration for a country that lacks qualitative attacking talent amongst the younger crop of players. It is interesting to witness the way in which Mumbai City FC have triumphed over the other franchises who were keen to lure the Indian Arrows’ starlet.
