FCBG went two points clear at the top of the table.

Football Club de Bardez and Guardian Angel Sports Club failed to break the deadlock as both teams played out a goalless draw in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium earlier today. This was the first time in the history of the Goa Professional League that a match was played in the newly installed floodlights. Guardian Angel Coach made only one change to his squad which drew with Corps of Signals in the last match, while FC Bardez tactician made four changes to his side as defender Anil Chawan replaced Mathew Gonsalves who is serving a one match suspension because of two yellow cards in the last match. Jessel Carneiro, Richard Costa and Myron Mendes were the other three changes in the starting XI. Both teams shared equal possession and showed some promising football in the first half but went into the breather goalless. FCBG were high on confidence after winning 3-1 in their last match against Corps of Signals. However Guardian Angel were also in the same mood and started the match on an attacking note. First shot of the match came from same side when Ghanaian Yakubu Mohammed's shot went wide from 30 yards. A minute later, Guardian’s Anthony sent a cross in the box from the right flank but Snedden Rodrigues failed to connect it. Again the Guardians were on the attack when Perryson Rebello tried to find Yakubu with a low cross in the box but defender Anil got there in time to clear it at the cost of a corner. At the other end Bardez were awarded a free-kick just outside the opponent’s box, Alesh Sawant tried to curl in the same but missed the target by a whisker. Best chance of the match came to Guardian side but Mickey Fernades’ blistering shot from inside the box was blocked by Anil resulting in a corner. Again Guardian were unlucky when Perryson’s curling shot from the edge of the box went just wide. Bardez came up with more attacking football in the second half and within the first ten minutes marched twice into the rival’s area when first, Alesh’s long ranger was collected by Guardian keeper Ram Sroop and he was again in action in few minutes when he denied Alesh again from scoring. On the counter-attack Yakubu's low shot was blocked by the Bardez shot-stopper. In the dying minutes of the match, both teams got one glorious chance each but both sides failed to convert them when Yakubu dribbled past two diffenders and set a perfect through pass in the box to substitute Lavino Fernades, but Curchorem side striker failed to keep his shot on target. At the other end Curchorem keeper Ram pushed Nigerian Sakibo's placed shot for a corner from point blank range. “My boys played well. But we couldn’t utilized the chances we got, what else can we do. Koko clearly missed the open chance. If he had finished that we could have won the match 1-0 at least, ” said FC Bardez Coach Armando Colcaco in a sarcastic tone. With today’s draw FCBG still stand top of the table with 18 points from 9 matches, while Guardian Angel climb to 6th position with 9 points from 6 matches played.
