Football Club de Bardez trounced Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao as they registered a dominant 4-1 win in the U20 TACA Goa League match played at the Cansaulim Football Ground earlier today.
FCBG coach Climax Lawrence made three changes to the team as Luis Miranda came in for suspended Cavin Soares, while he also gave a start to goalkeeper Suresh Lamani and Royston Coutinho in the starting XI.
FC Bardez were the better side and dominated major parts of the match as they completely outclassed their opponents in possession and giving them chance to attack.
Both teams started the match high on confidence, but Bardez came up with the first chance of the when Royston was brought down near the danger zone, but Saviour Gama wasted the early chance from the free-kick with a wide shot. However they just took three more minutes to take the lead. Midfielder Ronail Azavedo found Saviour in the box, who made no mistake to convert it into a goal.
A few minutes later, Bardez made it 2-0 with the same players involved in the event but this time Royston tapped in from six yards off Saviour’s perfect low pass. Saviour had another chance to score his second but Taleigao keeper Vinesh Shirodkar brilliantly denied him in a one-on-one situation. At the other end, Bardez keeper Suresh came up with an excellent save to stop defender Viraj Naik from scoring an own goal as he dived to his limits and pushed the ball for a corner.
Taleigao came out stronger in the second half and surprised their opponents with a quick goal. Taleigao skipper Prajay Mandal’s powerful shot from close range directly finished in the back of the net. However Bardez replied with one more goal within the next 10 minutes. Saviour dribbled past two defenders to enter in the box and passed the ball to a well-placed Roston who just tapped in to make it 3-1 for the Pink Brigade. With the match progressing towards the end of regular time, the Bardez coach Lawrence thought of giving rest to key players as he brought on Manjunath Rathod in place of Goa Pro League player Kirtikesh Gadekar. The substitute midfielder just took five minutes to vindicate his coach’s decision as he intercepted a long pass and drilled a sparkling shot from close range which finished in the back of thenylons making it 4-1 for FCBG.
FC Bardez coach Lawrence was happy after the full-time whistle and said, “I am happy with the victory. We should have done this from the start, but now we have to forget about it and move on.”
With this win, Bardez remain in 4th spot with 12 points, while Taleigao remain at the bottom of the league table with just a point in their basket.
