Bengaluru United sign George D'Souza on loan from Odisha FC
The defender has moved in a bid to get minutes on the pitch.
The Second Division League club Bengaluru United have completed the signing of George D'Souza, Khel Now can confirm. The left-back arrives at the club on loan from Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Odisha FC. The 27-year-old has been brought in with preparations for the I-League Qualifiers in mind, which are being held in September later this year.
"George D'Souza has signed with FCBU, on a loan deal from Odisha FC," a source close to the developments informed Khel Now. George will look to take this opportunity with open arms since he did not get enough chances last year. He only featured for two games, clocking in 171 minutes of game-time. The SESA Football Academy graduate will look to impress the management of his parent club to make a better case for a regular starting position.

Player profile
George D'Souza started his professional career in 2016 by signing for Goan club Sporting Clube de Goa. Being a native of Goa, this was an important move for the player which got him a lot of attention. He represented the outfit in the Goa Professional League and showed a great version of himself for the local club.
The left-back featured in 20 games for the team. However, he scored four goals and provided three assists in the process. After his impressive performances for Sporting, Odisha FC came calling. He signed for the ISL club ahead of the 2020-21 season.
The ambition of the club
FC Bengaluru United are three years post their inauguration and played two out of three seasons in the Bangalore Super Division league. They made their maiden I-League appearance by featuring in the Second Division league during the 2019-20 season.

The outfit reached the final round, where they finished third in the group standings behind Bhawanipore FC and Mohammedan SC. The Bengaluru-based club will look to go a step better in the upcoming qualifiers and secure a place in the I-League.
As for George D'Souza, the competition for places will only get tougher at OFC. The Juggernauts have brought in defender Sahil Panwar ahead of the new season. A new coach is in the offing for the club and an impressive run for Bengaluru United could work in the defender’s favour. It will be interesting to see how Richard Hood, the tactician at Bengaluru United, uses D'Souza. The qualifiers will take place in Bengaluru, therefore home advantage should help the team.
