Ferran Corominas: FC Goa hasn’t valued me for my performance

The 37-year-old opened up on his experience playing for the Gaurs and future.
Fans of FC Goa need not be told about the importance of Ferran Corominas, who has been one of their most consistent goalscorers. The Spaniard has played for the Gaurs since 2017 and is already the all-time top scorer of the Indian Super League (ISL) with 48 goals from 57 appearances.
Thanks to his performances, FC Goa also made their way into the AFC Champions League group stage by virtue of topping the league stage of the 2019-20 ISL. However, despite that, the 37-year-old is unhappy, as he feels that the club's latest offer for him does not do justice to his contributions.
"The Asian championship is a good tournament to play but for me, the important thing is that they value me for my performance. This year FC Goa, with the offer it has made, hasn’t valued me for the performance I have had," he told Goal in an interview.
The two-time ISL Golden Boot winner further added that while his future is not clear yet, no other clubs in the Indian top flight have approached him either - especially because most of them are struggling hard with finances due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
"For the following season, the future is not clear. I am a free player without a contract and I am listening to proposals. But, with the COVID-19 problem, it doesn't help. In India, only FC Goa have made me an offer. I have received a proposal from other countries, but at the moment I haven’t decided anything," he said.
On being asked about what he felt about his stint so far with FC Goa, Ferran Corominas replied, "I think my three seasons on a personal level have been excellent with very good statistics and contributing a lot to the team. FC Goa is changing a lot, in terms of players and coaches."
As of now, Edu Bedia and Hugo Boumous are the only two foreign stars whose future with FC Goa has been finalized. While Bedia extended his contract for the next two seasons earlier this month, Boumous currently has his initial contract running till 2022. Meanwhile, the club is passing through what can be described as a transitional phase, with Juan Ferrando getting appointed as the new head coach and players like Ahmed Jahouh, Mourtada Fall, Mandar Rao Dessai and Jackichand Singh leaving them.
Redeem Tlang from NorthEast United and Sanson Pereira from Salgaocar FC are a couple of new signings that the Goan club completed most recently. They have also promoted Leander D'Cunha, the captain of their developmental side to the first-team.
