Qatar release 24-man squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Afghanistan & India
The Maroons have unveiled their squad which will participate in the joint qualifiers of 2022 FIFA World Cup/ 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
Reigning Asian champions and the hosts of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Qatar, have announced their final 24-man national team squad ahead of the second round of qualifying fixtures against Afghanistan and India.
The unmissable names from the squad are Almoez Ali, the attacker who took the AFC Asian Cup by storm earlier this year, captain Hassan Al-Haydos and the central defender Pedro, who was crucial at the back in the Asian Cup triumph.
Qatar head coach Felix Sanchez will be hoping his side can kick start their World Cup qualifiers campaign on a positive note being the favorites to finish the group on top. Qatar will be one of the teams to watch out at the biggest stage in football in 2022 and thus it will be interesting how India tackle them in their second qualifying fixture on September 10.

Qatar recently participated in the Copa America 2019 as one of the two Asian teams that were invited by the CONMEBOL alongside AFC Asian Cup runners-up, Japan. They were grouped with Argentina, Paraguay and Colombia where they drew one and lost the other two games, finishing at the bottom. The tactician will be hoping to turn the tides, albeit against much weaker opposition.
