The Scotsman feels that his team deserved the three points
Jamshedpur FC emerged victorious in their latest Indian Super League assignment. They collected three points against a hapless Chennaiyin FC, thanks to an own-goal by Enes Sipovic in injury time. Head coach Owen Coyle was pleased with the fight shown by the Men of Steel.
The win takes Jamshedpur above Bengaluru FC in sixth place with 21 points, two points less than fourth-placed Hyderabad FC. During the post-match interaction, Owen Coyle talked about performance on the night, playoffs chances and more.
Improvement from last game
While assessing the team’s display, Owen Coyle talked about the improved performance and added that his team had to play well to win. He added, “What we had to do was win the game and we played a lot of good football to do that against a very good team. I know very well how dangerous they are. We had chances before we eventually got the goal and I think we deserved the three points.”
Chances of playoffs finish
Reflecting on the league position, Coyle expressed his opinion regarding his team’s chances of finishing within the top four playoffs spots. He said, “All we’ve done is given ourselves a chance. There are three teams two points ahead of us at the moment, they all have a game in hand. They still have to win those games. What we have to do is keep ourselves in the fight, keep it interesting because it's not our spot, it's somebody else’s to give away.”
A word on Boris Singh
The tactician was asked about their new recruit Boris Singh and the role he would be playing in the games to come. In response to the question, Coyle said, “Boris was coming tonight until we picked up injuries to (Kingsley) Eze and (Alex) Lima, that changed things for us. He’s got a bright future, he is the one I’m excited about, he’s quick, he’s young, he’s going to get better.”
Best chance to secure points
In conclusion, the 54-year-old also talked about whether this was the best chance to collect three points due to the fact that the next two opponents for Jamshedpur FC are ATK Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City FC. The tactician answered, “No, I think every game in the ISL is an opportunity to win all three points.
“We have shown our form against ATK Mohun Bagan and Mumbai in the first half of the season. Anybody in this league can win games. We just had to focus on the game, win and then go into the next one,” the Scotsman further commented.
