Goa Professional League: Salgaocar FC trounce Guardian Angel in goalfeast

Stephen Satarkar scored a brace for the Greens on Thursday afternoon.
Salgaocar FC put up a strong second half performance which saw them recorded a fluent 5-2 win over Guardian Angel SC in the Goa Professional League at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Thursday.
Second half substitute Stephen Satarkar (59’, 78’) scored a brace while Sanson Pereira (10’), Andrus John (37’) and Devendra Murgaonkar (80’) scored a goal each for the Green Brigades. Ghanaian Bamba Musah (11’) and Clive Colaco (44) scored a goal each for the Curchorem side.
[KH_ADWORDS type="4" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS]Salgaocar FC are on 35 points from 21 matches in the fourth spot while Guardian Angel sit in seventh place with 26 points from equal outings. Starting the match on attacking front, Salgaocar FC were first to break the deadlock as early as in the 10th minute when they were awarded a free-kick outside the box. A smartly taken free-kick from Saeesh Halarnkar to Sanson Pereira, set the skipper through on goal and the last man made it count with a sublime finish past Guardian Angel SC keeper Jeet Gupta.
[KH_ADWORDS type="3" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS]Hardly had the cheers settled down, Guardian Angel SC came with a quick reply as they attacked from the left flank with Beneston Barreto initiating the move. A cross from the left flank to the striker Bamba Musah saw the lanky Ghanaian restore parity. After more of a midfield battle, Salgaocar FC managed to regain their lead in the 37th minute when Devendra Murgaonkar, dribbled past couple of rival players and played a cut back pass from inside the box Andrus, despite the Guardian Angel keeper Jeet meeting the ball, the Curchorem team custodian couldn’t keep the ball out from Andrus, who scored with a simple tap in to make it 2-1.
[KH_ADWORDS type="2" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS]To bring more dynamics to the game, Guardian Angel SC team coach Riston Rodrigues made a quick change in the 40th minute when he replaced U-20 player Imson Fernandes, bringing on Clive Colaco and the first half substitute made an immediate impact scoring from a corner kick in the 44th minute, 2-2. The teams were tied 2-2 at the break.
In the second half, Salgaocar coach introduced Stephen Satarkar in the game replacing Andrus John and the striker scored two goals after coming on.
In the 59th minute, Chaitan Komarpant made a fine run on the left flank and played it to Stephen, who scored with a first time shot from outside the box.

Saeesh was instrumental once again in Stephen second goal as he played a through pass to Devendra, who cut past one rival defender and set up Stephen for his second, 4-2.
There was more to the game as Salgaocar FC scored their fifth through Devendra, who had earlier missed plenty chances for his side. Saeesh played Devendra through from the midfield, but the striker dribbled past four Guardian Angel SC defenders before scoring the team’s fifth goal to make amends for his earlier misses.
