This is the second international tournament Gokulam Kerala FC are participating this season. Malabarians had participated in Sheikh Kamal International Cup held in Bangladesh before and reached semifinal.

“We have a good developmental squad that play in the Kerala Premier League. They need more match experience and when the Bhutanese Football Association invited us for the tournament we agreed,” said Bino George, Technical Director of Gokulam Kerala FC.

“One of the major problems that haunted Kerala was lack of playing time for Kerala players. Now through Gokulam we are able to send them for various tournaments. We are looking for a possibility to send another squad consisting of young players to Punjab for another tournament. We want ample playing time for our players. This will help Kerala to produce more quality players,” said Bino George.
