The 24-year-old right-back started his football career in Manipur.
I-League club Gokulam Kerala FC have signed right full-back Takhellambam Deepak Singh. He played for Manipur club Neroca FC last season.
The youngster started his football career in Manipur and played his first professional match for Royal Wahingdoh FC. Then he went on to play for TRAU FC and helped them to get promoted to the I-League.
Last year Deepak Singh played for rival club Neroca FC and started in 11 matches for the club. He is known for his speed and agility and will be a major addition to Malabarian’s squad. He is the fourth player announced by the club ahead of the upcoming season.
“We have all seen how Gokulam won the I-League. The brand of football they played is inspiring and it will be an honour for me to represent them next season. I will try my best for the club and its fans,” said Deepak Singh.
“This lad was under our radar ever since the start of last I-League season 2020-21. His consistency coupled with energy and enthusiasm earned him a berth in our current squad. As a right-wing-back we expect him to raise his bar and perform better this season than the former players,” said Dr B. Ashok Kumar, the CEO of Gokulam Kerala FC.
The president of Gokulam Kerala FC, VC Praveen said, “Deepak is an industrious player and he will provide healthy competition to the full-back position in the team. The player has impressed us during the last I-League season and we believe he would be a valuable addition to the team.
"We need to strengthen our squad depth as we will be playing in the AFC Cup also this year,” he concluded.
