Nicolau Colaco scored in the dying minutes as Guardian Angel Sports Club registered a hard-fought 1-0 win over Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler stadium earlier today.
After 10 minutes of midfield play from both the sides, it was Cavelossim who took first shot at the goal when Semson Fernandes surprised Guardian keeper Ram Sroop with a quick shot from the edge of the box but the keeper nicely cleared it for safety. A few minutes later, Semson once again tested Guardian custodian, but once again he came up with a brilliant save to keep his side safe. A minute later they had almost scored the opener when Rohan Kamble’s shot beat the keeper but Benzu Clemente cleared it off the goal line.
At the other end, Rayman Fernandes sent a defence-splitting pass to Perryson Rebello in the box but Cavelossim keeper Siddesh Morje collected it before the striker could do any damage.
Unlike the first half, Guardian were the better side in the second half as they continuously penetrated Cavelossim’s defence but poor finishing and sharp guarding of the post from Cavelossim custodian Morje restricted the Curchorem side from scoring.
