Vishal Kaith and Gurmeet Singh made a string of good saves to level the clean sheet record

Hyderabad FC and ATK Mohun Bagan played out an eventful 0-0 draw in the first leg of their Indian Super League (ISL) playoffs on Thursday. Joel Chianese, Pritam Kotal and Manvir Singh came close to scoring - but nobody was able to beat either of the goalkeepers on the day.

Both Gurmeet Singh and Vishal Kaith stood tall between the sticks, both keepers equalling Gurpreet Singh Sandhu's clean sheet record set in 2019-20. This result means there is everything to play for in the second leg at Kolkata - which will happen on Monday.

Here are the Player Ratings for the game.

Hyderabad FC (By Praketh Reddy)

Gurmeet Singh - 8.0

Hyderabad FC have their keeper to thank for as he ensured the score remained goalless. He made 6 crucial saves for the home team and had a solid outing.

Chinglensana Singh - 7.0

Chinglensana was solid as usual at CB and he put in a few crucial blocks in defence. He performed his duties well and helped earn a clean sheet for the home team.

Nikhil Poojary - 7.0

Nikhil made a few runs into the opposition box and was defensively solid. He put in 4 tackles and had 82 touches of the ball, he also created two chances.

Odei Onaindia - 7.0

The Spaniard had another great outing and ensured he complimented Chinglensana well by putting in a few blocks and tackles.

Akash Mishra - 6.5

Akash Mishra had no influence in the game and did not manage to create any chances, he put in a couple of crosses that were wayward.

Sahil Tavora - 7.5

Sahil had a great game in midfield and kept the attack of ATK at bay for most parts of the game. His wide range of passing also created a few chances and he had a 90% pass accuracy.

Borja Herrera - 7.5

Borja had one of his better games in midfield again and was also good at putting a few dangerous balls in during the setpieces. He made 6 tackles and made sure he kept the ATK Mohun Bagan attack at bay.

Mohammad Yasir - 7.0

Yasir roamed freely in midfield and was key in both attack and defense. He almost scored the opening goal but his shot hit the post. Overall he had a good game.

Joel Chianese - 7.0

Chianese was very close to scoring his header but a great save from Vishal Kaith denied him. Apart from that he could not create much as a CAM and got subbed off in the second half.

Halicharan Narzary - 6.5

Narzary did not create much from the flank and put in 4 crosses. He had an 86% pass accuracy but did not influence the game much otherwise.

Javier Siverio - 6.5

The Young Spaniard was good in his hold-up play and passes but ultimately as the striker he failed to get any service nor create a chance and was subbed off in the second half.

Substitutes -

Bartholomew Ogbeche - 6.0

Ogbeche came on in search of goals but he did not influence the game much as a substitute.

Joao Victor - 6.0

Joao Victor came on in the second half and made sure the score was at 0-0 and performed his duties to his best.

ATK Mohun Bagan (by Uttiyo Sarkar)

Vishal Kaith – 8.5

Despite suffering an awful concussion in the last game, Kaith did not lose any of his form. He maintained his excellence in goal – making an amazing save to deny Joel Chianese’s bullet header in the first half. Made three key saves, going away with another clean sheet.

Asish Rai – 7.5

The young right-back was really sharp against his former side and did not let the occasion deter him. He did well to soften Hyderabad’s surging moves and maintained impressive concentration – making three interceptions and two clearances. Almost also scored a brilliant goal after stealing the ball in the opposition half, only to be denied by the goalkeeper.

Pritam Kotal – 6.5

Kotal maintained a tight defensive line with Damjanovic and didn’t let the hosts unnerve him. Used his game-reading skills to make some key challenges and maintained nice positioning. Unlucky not to score in the first half after a point-blank range effort hit the post.

Slavko Damjanovic – 8.5

Damjanovic continued his impressive form. He bullied Siverio and also kept Ogbeche quiet. He did not over-commit to challenges either. Made five clearances and one tackle, ensuring Brendan Hamill’s absence wasn’t felt. Also created two scoring chances, adding to his heroics.

Subashish Bose – 7.0

Bose did a pretty good job in keeping the dangerous Yasir and Poojari relatively contained. Did not allow the hosts to flood his side and was proactive with his challenges, making three clearances and two tackles.

Carl McHugh – 6.5

Not as dominant as he’s been in recent appearances, but McHugh did well to shield his backline after a shaky start. He slotted into the empty spaces nicely, moved the ball forward quickly, and was quite disciplined with his work too.

Lalthathanga Khawlhring – 6.5

Energetic and alert in midfield, being swift in quickly moving the ball around and helping with the progression too. Quite proactive with his defensive duties too, making two blocks and an interception.

Manvir Singh – 5.5

Manvir showed a lot of desire to repeatedly make darting runs up and down the right wing. He made some surging runs, including one to get in behind the defence in the second half – only to hit an open-range effort straight at the goalkeeper. His desire couldn’t be questioned, but his poor final product let him down.

Hugo Boumous – 6.0

Boumous pressed the Hyderabad FC players impressively and helped win back the ball in key areas a few times. Made a few encouraging runs into the final third, but not able to create anything big. Taken off after the hour-mark, much to his dismay and frustration.

Liston Colaco – 6.0

Colaco’s performance was arguably his best in a long time, but his final product keeps holding him back. He made some impressive runs and set up Manvir’s big chance nicely, but his shooting effort or attempts in the final third almost all failed to deliver.

Dimitri Petratos – 6.0

Petratos was marked extremely tightly by the Hyderabad backline and didn’t get too much room to influence either. His link-up play, however, was decent and helped the wingers get more freedom. It was his solid set piece that led to Kotal’s big chance in the first half. Saw a late shot from afar collected easily.

Substitutes

Federico Gallego – 6.0

Gallego wasn’t really able to influence much change after coming on, but at least moved the ball forward nicely towards the end.

Lalrinliana Hnamte – 6.5

Hnamte had a resemblance to Puitea, who he replaced in the second half. Really energetic in the final bits of the game, making two blocks and a tackle to help ATKMB get a decent result.
