Brazilian legend Rivaldo set to make impromptu trip to Kolkata.
Brazilian legend Rivaldo, who is in India to attend the Subroto Cup closing ceremony later today as its Chief Guest, is all set to make an impromptu dash to Kolkata tomorrow. The talismanic midfielder will arrive in the city just before noon on Sunday and will first catch-up with players from the Delhi Dynamos FC senior team including his compatriots Bruno Pelissari, Marcelinho and Memo. The Lions are in town for tonight’s crucial Hero Indian Super League clash with Atlético de Kolkata. He is then keen to get a taste of the city’s unique football culture including an interaction with its immensely passionate fans. Kolkata has long been one of the nation’s biggest hotbeds for the beautiful game, playing host to some of India’s most historic clubs. Rivaldo’s visit is sure to further capture the imagination of football fans across the city amidst ISL fever. Asked about what kind of reception he was expecting in the city, Rivaldo said, “I have heard so much about Kolkata and the passionate fans there. They really love their football and I want to experience that. I am looking forward to it. Once I knew I was going to be in India, I had to go there.” Rivaldo, who also attended the Delhi Dynamos Soccer Schools’ Grassroots Initiative and met with youngsters from Delhi Dynamos FC’s academy side yesterday, was extremely happy about the work in progress and the reception he got from the kids there. He added, “It was very exciting to take part in the DDFC grassroots initiative yesterday. To meet all the kids and the youngsters was very good. DDFC are doing some great work here and after meeting them I knew that I had to meet the senior team as well.” Further elaborating on the friendship with Delhi Dynamos FC, Rivaldo said, “As a club, I have followed DDFC very closely over the past two ISL seasons and I have some great friends over here at the club. I felt that my trip to India would have been incomplete without meeting the DDFC senior team who are having a great ISL season thus far. Now, I have a chance to go to Kolkata and I want to wish them the best. [KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]Latest News
