Exclusive: I want to show what I can do - Antonio German
The former Kerala Blasters striker is determined to prove his worth at Gokulam Kerala.
Gokulam Kerala sent shockwaves through Indian football when they announced the signing of former Kerala Blasters attacker Antonio German ahead of the next season. The former QPR academy product boasts a high-profile CV and his stint at KBFC is a testament to that.
Gokulam Kerala's I-League debut was full of ups and downs. The southern outfit failed to establish themselves in the top flight in the initial stages, but as the league reached its business end, they turned the tide and earned the tag of "giant killers."
However, the Gokulam-owned club is all set to take the league by storm next campaign. They have already signed a few foreigners into their roster and German is the latest. The 26-year-old attacker can play in a multitude of positions and will be an asset, for sure.
Speaking exclusively to Khel Now after completinghis move, German was asked how it felt to make a return to Kerala. "It feels great! I’m excited for the challenge. Obviously, I know the city and the fans are the same from Kerala. So, I can’t wait to get started."

German has played in the ISL and he knows the climate well. However, the timings of I-League and ISL are quite different and we asked whether it would have any impact. The forward was confident and asserted "No, not at all. I’m looking forward to playing in the sun. It’s hard at first. but as you acclimatise it gets easier."
As an attacker, German scored six times for Blasters and he believes he could continue the same form for Gokulam. "I’m looking forward to working hard, to be the top scorer in the I-League and hopefully show the fans and the team what I can do."
Earlier, there were reports suggesting that German would join Gokulam Kerala at the time of the Super Cup. However, it didn't materialise. Talking about this, his representative Jonathan said "It's true that we have been careful and took our time to get the right deal for Antonio. We held talks with clubs in the (Indian) Super League and I-League, but ultimately we feel Gokulam Kerala is the perfect place."

"Antonio knows the city and will have the perfect platform back in Kerala where he is known and loved by fans. He is the perfect player to help Gokulam grow as a club and the I-League grow stronger as a competition. It's a great move for Gokulam Kerala and the I-League as a whole, and fans should be excited to see Antonio do his thing."
