A complete list of foreigners in the I-League 2021-22 season

There will be over 40 overseas players participating in the league in this campaign.
The 2021-22 edition of the I-League will be organised from December 26 onwards. Kolkata will play as host to the competition which will take place under a secure bio-bubble owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. The competition is going to be fierce due to the unpredictability of the league. I-League has some very iconic clubs playing in it and they will be joined by newcomers in the division.
The league also consists of foreign players who ply their trade and represent their respective teams. There are many new faces waiting to take to the pitch when the season begins and some old faces who are accustomed to the league by now. Foreign players are crucial to every team’s success as they can be the difference makers due to their quality.
Keeping that in mind, here is a complete list of foreigners who will be a part of I-League’s 2021-22 edition.

NEROCA FC
The outfit has four foreigners in their team who will aim to help the team deliver a better performance than last year. Mohamad Kdouh, Ben Quansah, Juan Mera and Sergio Mendigutxia make up their foreign contingent.
TRAU FC
The Manipuri outfit also has four foreigners on their roster. Helder is one of the foreign players to watch out for in the upcoming season. Their four overseas players are Joseph Mayoma Olaleye, Akobir Turaev, Douglas Santana and Helder.
Churchill Brothers
The Red Machines came close to winning the I-League last season and will hope to replicate their performance from the previous campaign. The Goan outfit have signed Sekou Sylla, Kenneth Ngwoke, Escuro and Shadi Skaf as their four foreigners.
RoundGlass Punjab
The Punjab-based outfit is one of the title contenders in the 15th edition of the I-League. They have brought in former Bengaluru FC boss Ashley Westwood as the head coach and many impactful foreign faces. Kurtis Guthrie, Travis Major, Joseba Beitia and Josef Yarney complete their roaster as overseas players.
Mohammedan SC
The current Calcutta Football League winners and Durand Cup 2021 finalists Mohammedan SC are also a strong title contender in the upcoming season. Their foreign contingent consists of Shaher Shaheen, Nikola Stojanovic, Andjelo Rudovic and Marcus Joseph.

Real Kashmir
The Snow Leopards have momentum heading into the I-League 2021-22 after winning the IFA Shield recently. Their squad has four foreign players who will be looking forward to keep up the good work by David Robertson and his boys. Mason Robertson, Fran Gonzalez, Masih Saighani and Tiago Adan are their overseas players.
Aizawl FC
The People's Club found itself in the relegation round and avoided the drop. The outfit will hope their foreign players can help the team finish amongst the top-half during the 2021-22 season. They have six foreigners in their team, some of whom has prior experience in Indian football. Bazie Armand, Willis Plaza, Alfred Jaryan, Olim Karimov, Matias Veron and Aser Pierrick Dipanda Dicka complete their foreign contingent.
Sreenidhi Deccan
One of the I-League debutants, Sreenidhi Deccan are showing promise, especially considering their run in the IFA Shield where they reached the final. They have signed only two overseas players so far, in Mohamed Awal and David Castaneda.
Gokulam Kerala
The defending champions are expected to endure a hard time holding on to their crown. However, they still are a strong title contender considering their overall squad and foreigners in it which includes Aminou Bouba, Sharif Mukhammad and Rahim Osumanu.

Rajasthan United
Another I-League debutant, Rajashtan United secured promotion by winning the I-League 2nd Division and are making smart moves in the transfer market. Bringing in a former Indian Super League (ISL) player like Marcelinho was a major statement of intent by the league’s newcomers. Their foreign contingent consists of Marcelinho, Komron Tursunov, Diego Bielkiewicz, Fabiano Alves and Akeem Abioye.
Kenkre FC
The Mumbai-based side became the latest entrants in the league after Chennai City’s withdrawal from the competition. They have only one foreign player in the squad in Zacharie Mbenda.
Note: Sudeva Delhi FC and Indian Arrows (AIFF developmental side) do not have any overseas representation.
