Gokulam Kerala sign defender Subhankar Adhikari ahead of AFC Cup

Gokulam Kerala FC are all set to strengthen their defence before AFC Cup with the inclusion of Subhankar Adhikari into their squad. 

A source close to the Khel Now confirmed that “he has signed for Gokulam Kerala FC. He had offers from three different I-League clubs and one ISL club."

About the Player

Subhankar Adhikari started his career with the U-18 team of Mohun Bagan. After that, he moved on to play for Kerala FC. He made 10 appearances for Kerala FC in the 2nd division I-League season of 2018. His performance there caught the attention of the scouts of South United FC where he signed the next season and played eight matches for them.

He then moved on to Kolkata Maidan to join George Telegraph. His performance in CFL 2021 earned him a place in the Santosh trophy squad of Bengal.

Subhankar Adhikari has been instrumental in guiding Bengal to the semi-final of the Santosh Trophy. His rock-solid defending at the back is much praised by Bengal supporters.

Gokulam Kerala in I league 2021-22

It has been brilliant so far for Gokulam Kerala FC. They are currently at the top of the table with 33 points from 13 matches. The defending champions routed RoundGlass Punjab by a margin of 2-0 in their last match. Jourdaine Fletcher and Sreekuttam VS scored for the team in the victory. Luca Majcen is the star performer for the team and has already scored 13 goals from 12 matches.

The defending champions are currently one of the favorites to win the I-League. They will start their AFC cup campaign on 18th May against ATK Mohun Bagan. The Malabarians are currently strengthening their team for AFC Cup and are most likely to sign a few more players.
