The club has acquired several players in the ongoing transfer window.
Mohammedan SC have completed the signing of 21-year-old attacking midfielder Suraj Rawat. The player has previously represented Kerala Blasters and Indian Arrows. He primarily turned up for the reserve team of the Kochi-based club in the second division of the I-League in 2017-18.
Thereafter, he was promoted to the senior squad in the next campaign, but made only two appearances in the Indian Super League. He clocked merely 35 minutes for the Blasters. Suraj Rawat made the move to Arrows in the 2019-20 season.
He played four matches in the entirety of the previous I-League campaign. The starlet has found it difficult to attain adequate playing time in recent seasons. Having joined Mohammedan SC, who have have made some significant moves in the ongoing transfer market, he will look to embark on a new chapter in his career.
The Black Panthers recently appointed former Punjab FC tactician Yan Law as their head coach for the upcoming campaign. The 27-year-old tactician is infact the youngest AFC ‘A’ license holder in Indian football. In the last few days, the club have signed a horde of domestic players including Shouvik Ghosh, Anwar Ali and Samuel Shadap among others.
Earlier, they had also lured in former Punjab FC defender Eze Kingsley Obumneme and former Churchill Brothers ace Willis Plaza. In addition to that, Mohammedan SC have also retained eight players namely Tirthankar Sarkar, Priyant Singh, Hira Mondal, Sujit Sadhu, Firoj Ali, Sujoy Dutta, Arijit Singh and Safiul Rahman.
The iconic club will be looking to secure promotion to the second tier of Indian football and their activity in the transfer window indicates the same.
