Bengaluru United rope in striker Luka Majcen from Churchill Brothers
The 31-year-old scored 11 goals for the Red Machines in I-League 2020-21.
FC Bengaluru United have signed former Churchill Brothers striker Luka Majcen, Khel Now can confirm. The Bengaluru-based club are gearing up for participation in the I-League Qualifiers, which will be organized in September.
"Luka Majcen has joined Bengaluru United. He had joined Churchill Brothers last summer on a season-long deal, which concluded recently. The striker was hence a free agent when approached by FCBU. He will join his new team on a short-term deal till September, with an option to extend it automatically if they qualify for the I-League," sources informed Khel Now.

Khel Now also understands that Majcen was impressed with the facilities at Bengaluru United. That, in turn, seems to have paved the way for his signing with them.
Luka Majcen's career
The Slovenian began his career through NK Interblock Ljubljana in his home country. Stints at NK Ivancna Gorica, NK Rudar Velenje, FC Koper, ND Gorica, NK Krka and NK Triglav Kranj followed, before he left Slovenia to pursue a career in Indian football.
Churchill Brothers announced his signing on October 27 in the last year and the centre-forward represented them in the I-League 2020-21 season. He scored 11 goals and registered two assists in 15 league appearances.
Luka Majcen was one of the best forwards in the I-League last season, who finished second in the Golden Boot race behind TRAU's Bidyashagar Singh. After the league season finished, a few teams expressed interests in the 31-year-old before Bengaluru United secured his signing.

Sources have informed us that the player is confident of qualifying for I-League 2021-22 with Bengaluru United. Should that happen, he will continue to represent them at least for the remainder of the season.
I-League Qualifiers
On June 26, the AIFF league committee approved Bengaluru as the venue for the forthcoming I-League Qualifiers. The tournament will happen in September as mentioned earlier. A maximum of 10 teams can participate.
State Associations who have conducted a League, or have conducted a qualifying championship are eligible to nominate a maximum of two teams. The League department will select one of those teams based on sporting merit and the club licensing criteria.
