The Black Panthers and their former boss released contradictory statements regarding the matter.

In a shocking turn of events, Second Division League outfit Mohammedan Sporting Club have parted ways with head coach Yan Law, just two months after his appointment at the club. The decision was announced both by the club and Law himself via their respective social media handles, a few hours after their I-League Qualifying game against ARA FC on Sunday. Moreover, assistant coach Saheed Ramon will be in charge of the team for the remaining matches of the I-League Qualifiers.

The head coach wrote on his social media saying he has resigned from the position. However, in a subsequent statement by the club, it has been stated that they terminated his contract with immediate effect, thus drawing contradiction. "The employment of Head Coach Yan Cheng Law with Mohammedan Sporting Club is terminated with immediate effect (Dated 11/10/2020). We wish him the best for his future endeavours," the club's official statement read.

"I wish the Club all the best for the remaining two matches in the Qualifiers and their future in the I-League and ISL. I wish all my players all the success for their future and hope to work with you again soon," he added.

One of India's youngest coaches, Law became the youngest coach to be hold the AFC 'A' license in 2019. He was appointed Mohammedan's head coach on August 1 and had spoken of his aim to lead them to the I-League earlier last month. The exact circumstances that led to the 27-year-old parting ways with the Black Panthers are still unclear, with more light expected to be shed on the developments in the days to come.

Earlier on Sunday, the club registered their second victory in the ongoing I-League Qualifiers, beating ARA FC by an impressive scoreline of 4-1. They had also won their opening encounter against Garhwal FC 1-0 last week and are currently the firm favourites to qualify for the I-League this season, with six points from two matches.
